Nigerian Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama will pay his Brazilian counterpart Aloysio Nunes Ferreira a brief visit today, the Foreign Ministry announced.
Onyeama completes an invitation from Nunes Ferreira, who traveled to Abuja in the first half of October, 2017 as part of his second tour of the African continent.
On the occasion, and according to the Itamaraty palace, the foreign ministers focused the dialogue on ‘issues of common interest aimed at strengthening the cordial, fraternal and lasting relations between the two countries.’
Ministers discussed bilateral agreements currently under negotiation by specialists from the two nations and related to cooperation and investment facilitation; transfer of prisoners; collaboration for agricultural development, and extradition.
They also analyzed the level of implementation of the Strategic Dialogue Mechanism between Nigeria and Brazil established in 2013 and that constitutes a platform aimed at intensifying the commitment between the two nations.
