It is not the most conventional diet for tennis stars, but for Djokovic eating the All England Club turf is part of his weird and wonderful tradition.
The Serbian does not hide the fact that it is has always been his dream to win the Wimbledon title and he has gone on to achieve that feat on three occasions.
After each of his three memorable victories he has grabbed a handful of the Centre Court grass and chewed until his heart was content.
And if he is to do the same this year then it would mean he would add Grand Slam number 13 to his name – and that is an accomplishment he is keen to achieve.
“I’ll answer the second question first because I love tasting the grass of Wimbledon,” Djokovic said.
“That means that I’m in the finals and I won.
“That’s kind of like a little tradition, I would say, the three times that I managed to win this great tournament.
“I’ve always dreamed of winning Wimbledon. Kind of constructed little trophies when I was seven years old, eight years old, of Wimbledon, raising that trophy in front of the mirror, imagining myself to be a Wimbledon champion.
