*Party Calls For Tight Security From Security Operatives
Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, have declared their readiness to support APC governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi as he begins his Ekiti State campaign flag-off on Tuesday.
Ekiti governorship elections will take place on July 14 with 40 political parties expected to partake in the contest that will see who will take over from outgoing governor, Ayodele Fayose.
Although APC have began a mini campaign rally in some part of Ekiti State since Dr Fayemi emerged winner of the Primary election that saw him defeat close rival, Segun Oni.
Interestingly, APC is due to parade a strong contigents for the flag off on Tuesday according to a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Wole Olujobi, in Ekiti.
Those expected in Ekiti on Tuesday are National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and the Chairman of the National Campaign Committee for Ekiti Election, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, as well as members of his committee.
Meanwhile, the party has raised an alarm over a planned attempt by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to disrupt or cause mayhem in Tuesday’s campaign flag off.
Having disrupted the party’s rally in Ado-Ekiti a fortnight ago, where former House of Representatives member Opeyemi Bamidele was shot by a gunman in an attempt to assassinate Dr Kayode Fayemi, the party have called on the security operatives to ensure safety of lives and properties during the flagoff.
