President Muhammadu Buhari will today (Saturday) depart the shore of Nigeria to attend an attend the 31st Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government scheduled slated for Nouakc hott, Mauritania.
He’s expected to travel alongside with some delegates such as Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and other top government officials.
President Buhari who is the leader of the AU, is expected to make introductory remarks and presentation on the theme: “Winning the Fight against Corruption, A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformat ion.”
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari and other African leaders are also expected to meet with France President, Emmanuel Macron, where issues on Financing AU-led Peace Support Operations authorized by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Furthermore, dominant issues affecting the continent such as peace and security, HIV/AIDS, re gional cooperation, climate change will engage the attention of the African lead ers during the Summit.
The Nigerian leader will also hold series of high-level bilateral sessions on is sues of shared common interests to the country, Africa and the world.
